The Armchair Quarterback Show The answer to the crisis and war in Israel is revealed. But why would you expect less? Where are those missiles kept, anyway? The idiots at the United Nations deserve mentioning. Arielle comes home for the weekend. Responses to oh so many comments, and invitations for more. Special thanks go to the maxi-talented Scott Fletcher for his contribution. Again
your correspondent from the noisy northern border who was woken earlier by
a loud boom (so what's new).
It is
Friday, the end of another week and I am looking forward to your
podcast.
Life has slipped into a routine of internet, phones and TV. My
husband is back to work though half his shift aren't there - either at home
looking after children or 'down south'.
Earlier in the week our congregation coordinator did a fine job
organizing, among other things, buses to relocate any members of the
community who wish to go somewhere more peaceful. Those who can't go to family
or friends are with host families. The bus on Tuesday had a luckily
escape as a kutuysha landed 100m away from where people were waiting to be
picked up. Fortunately no one was hurt.
I
understand Tzur Hadassah has taken a serious part in this effort both organizing
and hosting.Did you know about that?
I am
in charge of the 'Anglos', posting messages to an electronic notice board and
phoning those who don't have email. Most of them are veteran Naharians and have
no intention of leaving but were glad to have chat.
The
Reform Movement also donated some activity kits to Shlomi and Naharia so the
children will have something to do in the shelters on
Shabbat.
Unfortunately it is not all good news. The lady killed in the first
attack on Naharia was an occasional visitor to our congregation and her nephew
is an active youth member. She was an Argentinean and her death has sent shock
waves through the Naharia's Spanish speaking community.
And
yesterday I discovered the one of our members is now living in a shelter because
her building has been destroyed. Today I hope to organize some
transport to get her to Jerusalem and a host family. I would like to check
how she is and we really need to do some shopping so I think a detour is in
order.
We
have also had enough of being stuck inside and are planning a Shabbat trip to
Tel Aviv - sea, sand ,sunlight.
I have
stopped watching the international news and reports about 'Israeli Aggression's
leaving me shout at the TV.
However this report left me breathless
Whether it's anti-Semitism or anti-Israeli, it is
anti-me. ( And will
someone tell me why it is so ok to be anti-Israel. What have we done that is so
horrible the world feels it can hate us with impunity?) According to
human rights organizations other countries can fight a war with civilians
causalities and it is a shame, when Israel does so it is a war crime. Is my
life, any Israeli life, so worthless to them that Israel is not allow to
defend itself? Final music is by Machina! |
